WordPress Developer

We are in need of a WordPress developer! The ideal candidate is able to confidently lead the development of WordPress websites from the ground up for a wide range of clients and projects in collaboration with a small team of fellow creatives. We’re looking for someone who shows up every day motivated to produce smart, innovative websites.


  • Work seamlessly with team (including design director, UX designer, and copywriter) to execute website designs
  • Confidently lead the development process for WordPress projects; act as the team’s expert on all things WordPress
  • Execute front- and back-end development, including custom, responsive WordPress themes; creation and/or implementation of plugins; implementation of custom post types; use of API to integrate various third-party platforms
  • Conduct testing and troubleshooting of sites 
  • Feel comfortable interacting with clients, including presenting ideas and conducting training sessions
  • Complete projects within established scope and schedules; quickly adjust to changes
  • Approach each project motivated to try new things and bring innovative ideas

Necessary Skills and Qualifications

Technical Skills

  • Expert in developing high-performing custom websites within the WordPress platform (front- and back-end, including fully-responsive themes and plugins)
  • Experienced in PHP, HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript; comfortable with MySQL
  • Proficient in SEO and ADA compliance as it pertains to HTML
  • Ability to integrate open source and third-party platforms into existing systems
  • Strong understanding of industry trends and CMS
  • Basic understanding of other stages of the process, including UX and graphic design
  • Ability to convert comprehensive site maps, wireframes, and high-fidelity designs into functional web pages
  • Working knowledge of Photoshop, Illustrator, and InVision
  • Experience with HubSpot and other marketing automation platforms is a plus



  • Work effectively within a schedule and scope; balance multiple projects
  • Have strong organization and time management skills
  • Adapt quickly to changes
  • Be a team-player with excellent communication skills
  • Be positive, enthusiastic, and self-motivated



  • 4+ years of WordPress development experience
  • Portfolio of live work samples
  • 4 year degree preferred
  • Previous agency experience not required, but is a plus


This is a contract position. The ideal candidate is able to work from our Baltimore office at least one day per week.
